Sprucing Up

We painted our house this summer and did a little sprucing up. I have wanted some topiary trees for the front of the house for some time now, but the nursery we went to had the price at $164 a piece. Well we found some at one of the big box stores for $65 a piece so of course I grabbed two of them and now they have a new home on each side of my garage. I also painted some flower pots in a polka dot pattern and now they also have a home in a wire window box.

Working On

I love the look of the gallery walls on the net I have been viewing. So........I thought I would work on my own rendition of my very own wall. It is a work in progress, but here is what I have come up with so far.
I have more pictures to add, but it is a good start.

Garage Sale Find

I wanted to share the table I found at our neighborhood garage sale, we got it for $5. I decided to paint it to match the style of pillows on our  bench seat. We then drilled a hole in the middle of the table so we could insert our umbrella. Not bad for $5.

Chalk Paint Is Here.

Well it looks like I will be delving into the world of ASCP. I have these two tables I have been waiting to try chalk paint on. I am going to do the top with a Old White dry brush method and for the bottom of the tables I will paint them in Paris Grey. I will then finish them up with a dark wax finish. I will post the pictures when they are done. Wish me luck!

Our 27th Anniversery

Today we celebrated our 27th anniversary. It really does seem just like yesterday when I was walking down the aisle of the church to become Mrs. Deniz. Jack is my biggest supporter in my adventures of furniture restoration and usually whatever venture I have. As my mom likes to say, "You Picked A Good One". I would have to agree with her!

My Version Of A Vanity

I have been searching for quite awhile for a vanity for my bedroom. I finally found one at a local thrift store. She needed some sanding, a small piece needed to be reattached and then she was ready to be primed. I chose the color Pamela's Lace. Well of course because the color had my name in it.  For the top of the vanity I used an old book to cover the top. The book was titled,  "Alice Through The Looking Glass And What She Saw There". I finished the vanity with a light glaze in all the right places, and now here she is in all her glory. Once again I apologize for the bad pictures I have a crummy camera.(and the person taking the pictures......me... needs some more experience). A new camera is on my wish list. I found the mirror through Craig's List. I painted it and glazed it to match the vanity.

Time Table

I re-did this coffee table over 4-months ago, but since I am new to blogger it is the first time being seen. I used my Cricut to make stencils for the Roman Numerals. I painted the numbers on, glazed it, and did a little distressing. I love all the different clock tables out there!

On the Chalkboard Bandwagon

I really like the chalkboards that have been popping up on the blogs, so I decided I would make my version of one. I found this frame at the flea market. It was gold leafed, which I did not care for. I primed it, painted the base coat, and then glazed the detail sections on the frame. I love the definition of a grocery list, it is so true!

Flea Market Find

I found this bench seat the other day at the flea market. I did not get a before picture, (for now on I will get before pictures I promise) but it was in pretty good shape. I sanded it down, added some wood filler in some spots, sprayed it with primer,  painted the base coat and then glazed it. I also removed the cushion seat and reupholstered it. I really love how it turned out

Some Things I completed today

I don't know about your household, but at ours we get a lot of people who leave flyer's on our doorstep, on the door handle and anywhere else they can leave their business leaflets. Well, I decide I would take matters into my own hands and make something where all these flyer's could be contained instead of all over the place and here is what I came up with. As you can see by the picture it looks like it is being used. I have had this metal basket hanging around the house for awhile so I gave it a new paint job and applied our house numbers on the front.

Apple Pie Please

Well I made it outside and wrestled the darn squirrels for some apples off our trees. The aroma of an apple pie baking in the oven is pure heaven! Every time I make a pie it is bittersweet for me. You wonder why? Well because the rolling pin I use to make my pies came from Grandma Georgie, who is in heaven baking cookies for the angels. So I think that is why I have the best tasting pie crusts because I have grandma's rolling pin.

TGIF

I have a lot to learn still about my blog page, so please forgive me for the sloppy page, but I am still in the learning process. I am really looking forward to getting past the newbie stage. Anyways today was another busy day for me, but I did manage to get the base coat on the two chairs I am working on. I promise I will post the pictures soon. I am looking forward to this hot weather being a thing of the past. It is so hard to do any type of painting in the heat. Well I hope you all have a nice weekend and back to fidgeting with this darn blog page.

Working It

I have been a very busy bee. I am trying to get a garage full (sorry Jack for the messy garage) of furniture projects completed. I am putting together an inventory of stuff so I can sale at a consignment store. I am hopeful and the end of the day that I will have some success. I love the search and rescue of a neglected piece of furniture. I could not do this without the help of my supportive family. I have a bucket list of  things I would like to buy. First buy would be a better camera, but for now baby steps,  we all have to start somewhere, right? For now I am working on a couple of chairs, a bench seat, and a dresser. I will try and post the pictures when they are completed and all prettied up. Well that is a good first start.
